Venezuela's Garbiñe Muguruza caused another big upset when she knocked out Simona Halep in the semi-final of the ongoing Australian Open on Thursday (January 30).

The 26-year-old defeated the Austrian in straight sets to book her spot in the final of the tournament for the very first time in her career.

Muguruza outplayed Halep to win the match by 7-6 (8), 7-5.

The former world number 1 will be facing America's Sofia Kenin in the Grand Slam final.

Earlier today, Kenin knocked out Australian tennis star Ashleigh Barty crashed out of in the semi-finals of the tournament.

The 21-year-old won the game in straight sets to secure her spot in the final. Kenin defeated Barty by 7-6, 7-5 in the semi-final.

With this victory, Kenin also has become the youngest ever to reach the finale of the Australian Open since 2008.

Later on today in the Men's semi-final, Novak Djokovic is set to take on Roger Federer to book a place in the final of the tournament.
