MUMBAI: The Subroto Mukherjee Cup football tournament has come first time to Mumbai and all the action is happening at St Xavier’s Ground, Parel. The tournament, which will be on for three days, would have a total of 16 matches to be played.

In an under-17 match, St Augustine’s High School, Nerul, which represented the Nashik division, carried forward their winning streak from the MSSA tournament, beating Nagpur division’s IGM High School 5-0. And this time round too, it was Jagjeet Singh who scripted their win with a hattrick.

While the Nagpur team showed some resilience in the first session by attacking the Augustine’s half, the Nashik division winners were quick to turn the tables back on them. In the 24th minute, Jagjeet Singh got the ball at the back of the net.
The lemon break was panicky in the IGM camp. Even the coach’s frantic calls to perform better yielded no results.

In a move to check the goals, the IGM coach changed their goalkeeper after Jagjeet scored his second goal but the new keeper too was unable to stop him from scoring his third. Akshay Kadam and Ahtesham Munshi also chipped in with a goal each.
