Former India skipper Arjun Halappa is all set to don a new hat. The midfielder, who represented the country for over a decade, has been appointed a Hockey India (HI) selector. In fact, the 32-year-old is the youngest to have got the prestigious job. Halappa, who ended his international career in the recent past but continues to play for Air India, will be part of the nine-member committee headed by Olympian BP Govinda. The panel will take charge on July 1. The other selectors are Syed Ali, Dr RP Singh, Gagan Ajit Singh, Savitri Purty, Mamta Kharab, Surinder Kaur, Saba Anjum.“This is a new beginning, and it will be more of a learning process. There are many stalwarts in the committee and it will be a great opportunity for me to learn from them,” said Halappa.
