Ambassador of Croatia to India, Amir Muharemi, on Thursday called on Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Akhilesh Yadav and offered help in developing sports facilities in the state.

Muharemi, who met Yadav at his official residence, lauded the state government's efforts in developing sport facilities and offered help in this area, an official statement said. He said his country wanted to extend support in providing international level training to football players from the state.

The Chief Minister accepted the Croatian ambassador's offer and directed the officials of the department concerned to take necessary action. As Croatia has made a mark for itself in soccer, training with their trainers would help players from the state to hone their skills, the release said.

The Croatian ambassador also offered technical know how and cooperation in running tram service in smaller cities of the state as it has the expertise and experience in running trams back home. Muharemi also extended invitation to Yadav and Vidhan Sabha Speaker Mata Prasad Pandey to visit Croatia.
