Here is what all you would want to know about the Late Dr Naismith:

Jack of many trades, master of all

Naismith apart from being a professor and a coach, indulged himself in many other professions. He was a doctor, a physical educator and a Christian Chaplain as well.

How English cold let him invent Basketball

The chilly English winters led the newly appointed Professor at the Springfield College to engage the students in an indoor game to keep them away from it. Thus, a soccer ball, two peached nets and just 10 rules were enough for Naismith to invent a new game.

Basketball as a means of living life

The game which had its similarities with field hockey and American and English football, was seen as way of living life by Naismith. Naismith saw Basketball as a way for students to better themselves physically and mentally.

Hall of Fame in Naismith's name

How a game that was invented to stay away from cold, became a global phenomenon, having a worldwide following and most popular sporting league in the world in NBA, has more than something to give its due to the one who originated it in the first place. In 1959, Naismith Basketball Hall fo Fame was brought to life, at the very place where it was first invented by the man.
