"The clinical state of Michael Schumacher is stable as he's under permanent care and treatment," Xinhua reported citing the hospital authorities in a statement. "However, the medical team in charge stresses that it continues to assess his situation as critical."

The retired seven-time Formula One champion struck his head on a rock while skiing off-piste Dec 29 at Meribel ski resort in the French Alps. He has undergone two emergency operations and has been in a medically induced coma since the accident.
