15-year-old Esha Singh donates Rs 30,000 to PM-CARES fund in fight against coronavirus

PM Narendra Modi, on Saturday, had created the Prime Minister's Citizen Assistance and Relief in Emergency Situations (PM-CARES) Fund and asked countrymen to show their support for the cause.

Indian's fifteen-year-old shooter, Esha Singh, pledged a Rs 30,000 donation to PM-CARES Fund to aid the battle against COVID-19 on Sunday (March 29).

Esha took to Twitter to confirm the news.

"I pledge to contribute 30 thousand Rupees from my savings to PM CARE FUND to Fight Covid 19," Singh tweeted.

Sports Minister Kiren Rijiju reacted to Esha's donation and lauded the 15-year-old's heartfelt gesture.

"Dear @singhesha10, you are just 15 years old but you have shown that you are a real champion! What a beautiful gesture by such generous contribution to #PMCARES Fund," Rijiju replied on Twitter.

PM Narendra Modi, on Saturday, had created the Prime Minister's Citizen Assistance and Relief in Emergency Situations (PM-CARES) Fund and asked countrymen to show their support for the cause.

The virus has brought all sports activities to a halt and players are practising social distancing and self-isolation during the pandemic. The World Health Organisation (WHO) and the governments all around are urging people to stay at home.

Various other athletes have also come forward to help namely Indian sprinter Hima Das, who said that she will donate a month's salary to the Assam government's coronavirus relief fund. Team India cricketers Suresh Raina and Ajinkya Rahane have made a generous contribution to fighting against the virus.

Indian shuttler PV Sindhu, BCCI president Sourav Ganguly, and wrestler Bajrang Punia have also contributed towards the cause.

According to the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare (MoHFW), there are 979 confirmed cases of coronavirus cases in the country and 25 fatalities have been reported.
