A look at the athletes who have qualified for Tokyo Olympics.
The 2020 Summer Olympics is scheduled to be held from 23 July to 8 August 2021 in Tokyo, Japan. The event was to take place in the year 2020, but due to the wide spread of the COVID-19 pandemic, the multi-sport event was postponed to 2021.
Now with around 20 days left for the tournament, Indians are weaving high hopes around their star athletes to shine.
So far, India has won 28 medals in 31 editions and the Indian contingent will have a new mission for 2021 year. Let's have a look at the athletes who have qualified for Tokyo Olympics.
1. Tennis
India has entered two athletes into tennis by using Sania Mirza's protected ranking of 9 in the women's doubles category. She will play along with Olympic debutant Ankita Raina.
Sania will now become the first female athlete to represent India at four Olympics when she features at the Tokyo 2020, slated to get underway from July 23 while Ankita Raina will be making her debut at the showpiece event.
2. Badminton
When it comes to badminton, four Indian shuttlers have made their entry and will be representing the country in three disciplines.

4. Hockey
On November 2, 2019, the Indian men's and women's hockey teams secured their berth at the Tokyo Olympics with their respective victories at the FIH Hockey Olympic Qualifiers.

India has the lone entry of Mirabai Chanu for the Tokyo Olympics. The former World champion was placed second in the women's 49kg Absolute Ranking released by the International Weightlifting Federation (IWF).
The Indian Weightlifting Federation (IWLF) sent Mirabai's entry after the confirmation of her place from the 'world' quota.

Double Asian Games medallist Fouaad Mirza is the first Indian to qualify for the Tokyo Olympics, ending a wait spanning two decades in January 2020.
Fencing:
Tamil Nadu's CA Bhavani Devi becomes the first-ever Indian fencer to qualify for the Tokyo Olympic Games in March 2021. She qualified through the Adjusted Official Ranking (AOR) method as she was ranked 45th and occupied one of the two available slots based on the ranking.
