PUBG Mobile is all set to return to India and every new development is being seen with tremendous anticipation. According to many reports, the trailer for PUBG Mobile in India is ready and the launch date is expected to announced anytime in the near future. The speculation is that the game could be available in India around the Christmas period or around the new year. With many new features proposed, PUBG Mobile is all set to change the gaming scenario in India. However, there is one development that might make many PUBG Mobile users and also in the world very sad.
According to a report in Inside Sports, one of India’s most followed PUBG player ‘MortaL’ is taking a break from the competitive. Naman Mathur, who goes by his Instagram handle of ig_mortal, is the highest watched PUBG Mobile player of all time with more than 6 Million Subscribers on YouTube. The Inside Sport report stated that Naman was stepping down as the IGL (in-game leader) of Team SouL and was taking a break from competitive play. He also stated that he was planning to become a mentor in his team and become “the sixth person” of the team. According to the player, this decision was made keeping in mind the best interests of Team SouL and his family.
MortaL is part of SouL, one of the most popular PUBG Mobile e-sports teams in India. They have represented India twice in PMCO Global Finals, and are currently playing the PMPL South Asia Scrims 2020. This is not the first time that SouL Mortal has taken a break from the competitive scene.
During the lockdown period in which PUBG was also banned by the central government, PMPL organised South Asia Scrims to entertain the audience. The PMPL Scrims is a tier-1 scrim, where the top PUBG Mobile teams of South Asia and South East Asia compete against each other with big prize money on offer. A scrim is an online practice match against several players or teams. ... It is basically a competitive game you play against other competitive players or teams for practicing in unranked matches. The word is most used between clan members in online first-person shooter games.
Currently, the second season of PMPL South Asia is going on, which will end on 17th April. SouL’s recent announcement about a break means that the team will not be a part of the rest of this tournament. The performance of SouL was not up to the mark in PMPL South Asia Scrims. On Day 6 of the scrims, the team was in 11th place, with 28 points.
