What are your thoughts on the Indian squad for the World Cup?I must say I’m surprised they have not included Sreesanth and Rohit Sharma in the squad. Sreesanth was such a big influence in the Test series.

It looks like the Indian selectors are banking more on spinners than medium pacers. I don’t think Gary had too much say in the selection but whatever the team composition is, India will do well.

Obviously, Sachin Tendulkar is the vital cog in the batting along with Sehwag and Suresh Raina. They have got reasons to pick the squad they have.

How has this Indian team changed under Gary Kirsten?Gary has done a great job there. I’m surprised by their fighting spirit. If it was not for Jacques Kallis, India would have won the Test series.

He has worked hard with players like Sachin, Rahul, Gambhir. Sehwag did not get runs but I’m sure he will do well in home conditions. I just feel, the Indian fighting spirit, is very evident and I’m not surprised that they are the No 1.

How do you rate India’s chances in the World Cup?India and Sri Lanka will be the top two teams in the championship. India should be the favourites with Sehwag, Gambhir, Raina and Tendulkar expected to do well. They should be right there in the final.

What about South Africa’s chances?South Africa got a bit of problem with their selection issues. They must select seven coloured players out of 15. Their tail will be too long. They have a problem with the batting down the order.

Which are the other strong teams?England are looking very good. Australia will always be strong contenders. So, your top four will be India, Sri Lanka, England and Australia.

What could be the key to success in this World Cup?The key will be the toss. You have to bat first and put runs on the board. Team batting second on a turning wicket will always struggle if they lose an early wicket.

Can Gary guide India to the World Cup?Gary Kirsten has done a fantastic job for India. I don’t know what he will do. He has got an important decision to make. I love to have him stay in India. I think everyone in your country loves him. The Kirsten brothers understand the game. I would love to do something in India too. Let’s hope Gary stays in India and I hope India win the World Cup.
