India vs Canada, Hockey World Cup 2018 Live: India beat Canada 5-1 in their final Pool C match of the Hockey World Cup 2018 on Saturday at the Kalinga Stadium in Bhubaneswar. India needed to win the match to book their place in the quarterfinals. This was India's second win in three matches in this tournament. India started off confidently with a 5-0 win over South Africa followed by a 2-2 draw against Belgium.

In Pool C, India finished on top with seven points, same as Belgium, but with a goal difference of +9 as against their +5. Canada and South Africa both had a point each but Canada joined Belgium in the crossovers with a better goal difference.

    It was a commanding performance from India, specially in the final quarter, to earn a direct quartefinal qualifcation. Canada gave India some nervous moments in the second and third quarters but in the end they will end up third in the group. They will join Belgium for the crossovers from Pool B.

  • It was a great run from Sumit down the right. He knew Lalit was in position at the face of the post. Sumit pulled off the perfect cross and Lalit easily slotted it home. Very good looking goal from India.

    It started with Chinglensana's strike in the very first minute of the 4th quarter. Before, Canada could recover Lalit Upadhya sent another one down to consolidate India's lead. Great stuff.

    What a great start for India in the 4th quarter. They have sent two goals down in two minutes.

    India are trying hard to regain the lead- Canada have come back in the match with a stylish goal. It will be interesting final 15 minutes.

  • Canada forced a turnover from a mistake by Simranjeet and executed a fine counter-attack to score. Things are back on level terms now and both teams are heading to cross-overs. There is no doubt Belgium will be keeping an eye on the score as well.

    Canada dominated the possession and pass accuracy by 56-44 and 67%-61% respectively. However, it was India who managed more circle entries at 7 than Canada's 4. There were no penalty corners in this quarter.

  • SAVE! Another Indian attack- Chinglensana Singh makes a good cross from the right flank. However, Canada goalkeeper Antoni Kindler is up for the task and blocks the ball with ease.
