Lionel Messi scored a wonderful goal to open his account in FIFA World Cup 2018. His beautiful strike put Argentina ahead in the 14th minute of their must-win game against Nigeria.

Ever Banega passed Messi the ball in a good move. Messi controlled the ball with two great touches and then smashing in a powerful shot to comfortably beat the Nigerian keeper, as the whole stadium erupted in joy. 

His spectacular goal sent Argentina fans inside Saint Petersburg Stadium wild, but it appears no one was happier than legend Diego Maradona.

The former Argentina satr held his arms outstretched and screamed at the sky before dramatically folding them. He seemed to praying after the strike.

Everybody noticed Maradona's reaction.  

Interestingly, this was the 100th goal scored at the FIFA World Cup 2018.
