Papi is a loser: Virulent Argentina fans spew bile at Messi's wife and 3-month-old son
Messi's wife and son were mocked on social media post Argentina's humiliating loss to Croatia in World CUp 2018.
Lionel Messi's wife, Antonella Roccuzzo, is very active on social media and ahead of Argentina's clash against Croatia on Thursday, she had posted a picture of their youngstest son, three-month-old Ciro, wishing Messi good luck for the match.
She captioned the picture as - #VamosPapi" -- meaning "#GoDaddy" – which means Go Daddy.
However, the match turned into a nightmare for Ciro's father and the entire Argentina side after Croatia thrashed them 3-0 in the Group D game at the Nizhny Novgorod Stadium.
Post the 3-0 drubbing, angry Argentina fans mocked the caption to the picture, as one of them wrote, “Papi is a loser.”
"Papi" would be coming home soon when Argentina get knocked out of the tournament,” another fan wrote. “I hope you will tell Messi to play a better match against Nigeria," another person commented, referring to the upcoming third and final Group D game in St. Petersburg.
Meanwhile, many others voiced support for the family with kind words and wishes: "Go, Leo! Do it for your family!"
Argentina's downfall against Croatia happened when Rebic made the most of a goalkeeping error, Modric fired home a superb long range effort and Rakitic completed the rout to leave the hopes of twice world champions Argentina hanging by a thread with one last chance to salvage their campaign.
A hard-working Croatia side took the lead when Rebic spectacularly hooked the ball over his shoulder into the roof of the net in the 53rd minute after being teed up by a botched clearance from hapless goalkeeper Willy Caballero.
Skipper Modric then put his side on course to become the fourth country to book a place in the last 16 in Russia as he swerved right, then left and right again before hammering home a thunderous shot from just outside the area with 10 minutes left.
Rakitic struck the crossbar with a free kick soon after before finishing off the rout by tucking the ball away from close range in stoppage time to complete the victory.
