Team India

RG Sharma – 2/5Tried to hook one but unfortunately did not get his timing right.  Was dismissed for fifteen. Sohail’s delivery sped up on him. Disappointing day for the Mumbaikar, but he would be happy with the win.

S Dhawan 4/5Steadied India’s ship when it mattered the most. Dhawan wasn’t in his usual attacking mind frame. Instead he paced his innings to perfection, giving his team a immaculate start to their batting innings. Scored seventy-three in an innings that had seven fours and a six

V Kohli 5/5The big players arrive at the biggest stage. Virat left no stone unturned to guide his team to 300. A well deserved hundred in an innings that saw Kohli at his technical best. His quick running between the wickets might have easily earned them another 5-10 runs.

SK Raina 5/5Was having a great time out in the field. Raina was smoking the ball to all parts of the ground as he scored a rapid seventy-four at a strike rate of 132.14. Was part of an important partnership with Kohli too.

MS Dhoni 3/5The captain has definitely had better days with the bat, but he marshaled his troops to perfection. Dhoni used his wicket taking bowlers at regular intervals to ensure Pakistan never got fully going.

RA Jadeja 3/5Sir Jadeja picked up Umar Akmal’s important wicket. That dismissal all but ensured India’s victory. Prior to that, things weren’t looking too bad for Pakistan. Took a beautiful catch to send opener Ahmed Shehzad packing, who was looking very dangerous.

AM Rahane 2/5Ajinkya Rahane was dismissed by a peach of a ball from Sohail Khan. Deceived by the slower one, he scored a duck. He did however keep it tight in the outfield.

R Ashwin 4/5Picked the wicket of the dangerous Haris Sohail. He maintained a reasonable economy rate giving away just forty-one runs in his eight overs. He also added a wicket maiden over to his name. Good performance from the offbreak bowler.

Mohammed Shami 4/5The pick of the bowlers, Shami consistently hit the deck hard touching 140 clicks quite often. Took four wickets. He even managed to trouble the seven footer Irfan, with some quick bouncers.

UT Yadav 3/5Umesh picked up two wickets in three balls to dismantle Pakistan’s middle order. Kept it tight giving away just fifty runs in his ten overs.

MM Sharma 4/5Mohit Sharma bowled an amazing spell, and picked up two wickets in the process. His medium paced deliveries troubled Pakistani’s batsmen throughout the innings. Was India’s most economical bowler along with Shami.

Pakistan

Ahmed Shehzad 3/5Was striking the ball to the T, and gave his side a fighting chance to make a historic comeback. But it just wasn’t to be as he was dismissed for forty-seven. His lazy cut to point opened the floodgates for India.

Younis Khan 1/5A bad day in the office for the Pakistani veteran. Never looked comfortable while batting and was sent back for just six. The ploy to make him open the batting didn't work.

Haris Sohail 3/5Got out to an amazing delivery by Ashwin. He looked set for a big innings, but was abruptly halted at thirty-six.

Misbah-ul-Haq 4/5Pakistan’s captain was also their long ranger. While he was striking the ball sweetly and finding the gaps, wickets kept tumbling at the other end. Scored a classy 76. Unlike 2011, Misbah could not be accused of slow batting on Sunday. But his decision to promote Younis Khan and play Umar Akmal prevents him from getting a perfect 5.

Sohaib Maqsood 0/5He looked nervous against Yadav and was quickly dismissed for a duck.

Umar Akmal 1/5Pakistan’s wicket-keeper had a day to forget. He too was dismissed for zero. He also dropped Kohli, at a crucial juncture in the innings. The only thing that saves him from getting a zero is that his dismissal was mired in controversy.

Shahid Afridi 1/5Boom Boom did manage to hit a lone boundary and a six.  But was dismissed for twenty-two. Was at the wrong end of an amazing catch by Kohli. He also gave away plenty while bowling.

Wahab Riaz 4/5He started off slowly, but frustrated the Indians at the death overs. His slower ball to dismiss Jadeja was easy on the eyes. Gave away just forty-nine runs in his ten overs

Yasir Shah 1/5A lot was expected from the leg break bowler. However he looked like he just breezed past his overs, without any intent. Was unable to pick up a single wicket and conceded 60 runs off 8 overs.

Sohail Khan 5/5Pakistan’s standout performer, Sohail kept picking up wickets consistently throughout the innings. He picked up a fiver and choked the Indian batting towards the end of the innings.

Mohammad Irfan 1/5Misbah and Co were banking on Irfan to cause a lot of problems for India’s batsman. However, they looked at ease against him.  The left armer couldn’t pick up a single wicket despite being hyped before the match.
