West Indies were once a powerhouse team in world cricket. During the 1970s and 80s, the team was on a rampage. But from the 1990s onwards, the West Indies has been in consistent decline. This has also affected their World Cup performances. Here's some trivia.

1) West Indies have not made it to the semifinals of the World Cup in the last 4 attempts. The last time they reached the semis was at the 1996 World Cup, against Australia.

2) During the 1996 semifinal, West Indies were cruising at 165/2, chasing just 207. Then they lost 8 wickets for 37 runs courtesy Shane Warne and Co, losing the match.

3) Before the 1996 World Cup, West Indies had a win-loss percentage of 70% at the World Cup. This has declined considerably since.

4) Windies had also not made it past the league stages of the World Cup since 1999, until they crashed out in the quarterfinals in 2011.

5) Zimbabwe have never won a World Cup match against West Indies and look set to lose their sixth straight one.
