‘Waqt se pehele aur kismat se zyada kisiko kuch nahi milta’ roughly translates to ‘you can achieve nothing before or after the right time’.
MS Dhoni may just demonstrate what this proverb implies when India take on England in the Champions Trophy final on Sunday. Dhoni has a spectacularly great horoscope with Uranus and Planet Y in exaltation. But nothing lasts forever. When Dhoni won the ICC World Cup in 2011, it was the pinnacle of his career. He can neither replicate nor achieve anything bigger.
On the other hand, Alastair Cook has a good horoscope. Not as great as Dhoni’s, but good enough to win a mini-world championship. Cook will also turn out to be shrewder than our ‘Captain Cool’. England are probably one of the best astrologically-balanced teams in this tournament. And their coach, Andy Flower, has it in him to guide the team to their second ICC title.
Dhoni & Co have done fabulously well so far, but they may just crumble under pressure in the final. The absence of the calming influence of a few senior players may be felt in this match.
The only hope that India have is that the Champions Trophy pales in comparison to a World Cup. Dhoni may not be able to win any more World Cups, but may probably win one. If he wins on Sunday, it would be the last of Dhoni’s many miracles.
