Asian Games 2018, Day 3 Updates: India bag 5 medals on Tuesday, win 21-0 in women's hockey

Here are live updates from Day 3 of the 2018 Asian Games in Jakarta-Palembang.

Indian shooters Saurabh Chaudhary, Abhishek Verma and Sanjeev Rajput added to India's medal tally on Tuesday, while India won its maiden medal in Sepak takraw at the ongoing 18th Asian Games. Divya Kakran then gave India another medal in wrestling winning a bronze.

India had a decent outing on Day 2 of the 2018 Asian Games in Jakarta-Palembang on Monday. The country added one gold and two silvers to its medal tally, with wrestler Vinesh Phogat being the star performer of the day.

Highlights from Day 3

Higlights of Day 3 at 2018 Asian Games for India:

MEDAL Shooting: Saurabh Chaudhary wins gold for India in the men's 10m air pistol with a Games Record of 240.7. Abhishek Verma clinches in a bronze in the same event. 

MEDAL Shooting: Sanjeev Rajput wins silver in the 50m rifle 3 positions event, giving India its third medal in shooting today.

MEDAL Sepak takraw: India settles for a bronze after losing to Thailand in the men's semifinals. However, they win the first ever medal in this sport for the country.

MEDAL Wrestling: Divya Kakran wins bronze in 68kg Freestyle category.

Swimming: Virdhawal Khade betters own national record to qualify for the men's 50m freestyle category. He, however, misses bronze by 0.01 seeconds to finish fourth.

Wushu: Medal assured for Naorem Devi who beat Pakistan’s Mubashra to move into semifinal. Three other India players were also assured of medals.

Hockey: India beat Kazakhstan 21-0 in women's hockey.

    It was good day for India at 2018 Asian Games on Tuesday. India won 5 medals (one gold, one silver and 3 bronze medals) on day three of competitions. 

    Indian women scored another big win in hockey beating Kazakhstan 21-0. 

    It was a good day for India in Wushu, as four medals were assured.

    Top seeds India’s Rohan Bopanna and Divij Sharan beat Wishaya Trongcharoenchaikul and Nuttanon Kadchapanan 6-3, 6-1 to reach the quarters in men’s doubles.

    In mixed doubles, the pair of Bopanna and Ankita Raina entered Round of 16. However, Divij Sharan and Karman Kaur Thandi lost in their Round of 16 match to crash out of contention.

    Dipa Karmakar and Co are in action right now. However, Dipa has finished behind Pranati Nayak and Aruna Budda Reddy in the vault apparatus and won’t qualify for the final.

    India's Rohan Bopanna and Divij Sharan move into the quarter-finals with a straight-sets win against their opponents from Thailand.

    The India duo holds the top seed in this event.

    India's Kiran Bishnoi 2-4 to Aiperi Medet of Kyrgyzstan. She will now head into the repechage round.

  • Tennis - Men's Doubles

    India's Rohan Bopanna and Divij Sharan are cruising in their first round match against Thailand.

    They won the first set 6-3 and are up a break 1-0 in the second.

    India's Divya Kakran loses 1-11 to Mongolia's Sharkhuu Tumentsetseg in the first round.

    He had a better shot at the end, but China's Hui Zicheng had done enough to secure gold.

    Nonetheless, a brilliant performance by Rajput. A memorable day for Indian shooters.
