According to the police, fans had started to gather outside Mannat from Wednesday evening. By late evening, thousands of people were busy waiting to get a glimpse of Khan.

"Things became chaotic after a friend of Khan, a famous cricketer had visited Khan's residence to meet the star. Assuming that the vehicle was Khan's, fans went berserk and made efforts to come near the vehicle. In this chaos, many pickpocketers made a fortune flicking wallets and mobile phones of fans," said an officer from Bandra Police Station.

Chhatisgarh native Ankit Sahu, 26, who was among the fans, lost his iPhone in the crowd and lodged a case of theft with the Bandra police. Like Sahu, others too later approached the police and complained of theft of mobile phones.
