The Earth is in for several massive asteroid flybys in the coming months with at least 8 massive asteroids racing towards our planet.

All of these are estimated to be larger than 140 meters, the size beyond which asteroids are categorised as Potentially Hazardous Objects (PHO). The most massive one is estimated to be 380 meters long.

Larger in size than the 130 metre Great Pyramid of Giza in Egypt, 3 of these asteroids will fly past Earth in the next few weeks of October 2021, while 5 will be at their nearest in November, as per NASA's asteroid tracker.

These asteroids are estimated to be larger in size than the 130 metre Great Pyramid of Giza in Egypt.

Here’s a brief on the asteroids coming our way in October and November 2021:

October 15 - 2021 SM3: With a maximum estimated size from 72 metres to 160 metres, the asteroid is unlikely to hit Earth but is still a near-Earth object (NEO) and will pass at a distance of 4.8 million kilometres.

October 20 - 1996 VB3: Just 5 days after the first asteroid, a more massive with estimated to be between 100 metres and 230 metres will fly by on October 20 at an even closer distance of 3.2 million kilometres from Earth. However, no impact is predicted.

October 25 - 2017 SJ20: An asteroid similar in size at 90 metres to 200 metres will race past earth in another 5 days around 7.1 million kilometres away from Earth.

November 2 - 2017 TS3: Massively sized between 98 metres and 220 metres, it is predicted to pass by at a distance of 5.3 million kilometres.

November 13 - 2004 UE: Much larger in size at 170 metres to 380 metres, the asteroid will be at a distance of 4.2 million kilometres when it passes Earth.

November 20 - 2016 JG12: Expected to fly past around 5.5 million kilometres away, the asteroid is estimated to be around 190 meters in diameter.

November 21 - 1982 HR: The very next day, a massive 300-metre-long asteroid, also called 3361 Orpheus, will be at a distance of 5.7 million kilometres from us.

November 29 - 1994 WR12: The asteroid sized between 92 metres and 210 metres is expected to go past at a safe distance of around 6.1 million kilometres.
