Brother files plaint against FB female buddy's father, kin
A 21-year-old youth ended his life by hanging himself at the residence of his brother at Bibvewadi a fortnight ago. Now, it has allegedly come to light that the suicide committed because the father and brother of one of his female Facebook buddies, who happened to be a relative, had issued a threat to kill him if he continued his friendship with her.
The Bibvewadi police identified the deceased as Diptesh Dilip Sapkal (21) from Raigad. They filed a case of abetment of suicide against the father of the girl after Diptesh’s brother Divyesh filed a complaint.
Diptesh hanged himself at Divyesh’s house a fortnight ago. The incident initially went as a case of accidental death as Diptesh left a suicide note saying he was in love with a girl and she had turned him down.
He approached the police on Thursday alleging that Diptesh took the drastic step as the girl’s father had threatened to kill him if he did not distance himself from the girl.
Assistant police inspector MV Kakde from Bibvewadi police station told dna, “Diptesh was working with a private firm at Navi Mumbai. He came to Pune at his brother’s house some 15 days ago. At that time, he committed suicide by hanging himself. He left a suicide note saying he was in love with a girl, but she did not accept his proposal. He mentioned the girl’s name in the suicide note. We checked his Facebook account and traced the girl.”
The police claimed that the girl is a distant relative of Diptesh, but she turned him down. “As of now, we have not been able to find out whether there was any relation between the deceased and the girl. They were just friends on Facebook. We have registered a complaint and our investigations are on.”
