Local politicians and residents of Alandi have threatened to go on strike after the corporators of Pimpri Chinchwad Municipal Corporation (PCMC) accused the residents of large-scale water thefts.

They now demand apology from PCMC corporators. Alandi Municipal Council vice president Rajendra Gilbile, former president Vilas Kurhade and other local politicians, along with the residents met mayor Mohini Lande, standing committee chairman Navnath Jagtap, and PCMC commissioner Shrikar Pardeshi and issued a letter to them in this regard.

Earlier, standing committee members had said that the citizens of Kale Colony in Alandi, which is outside PCMC limits, are drawing water illegally from the PCMC pipeline. Due to this, the residents living in the localities closer to Alandi are not getting enough water supply.

They demanded that the civic body should file criminal complaints in this regard and the unauthorised water connections should be cut off.

Kurhade said that PCMC is itself responsible for polluting the Indrayani water of temple town.
