Keeping the upcoming 2014 Lok Sabha election and Legislative Assembly polls in mind, city NGO Parivartan had a voters’ registration drive in IT companies in the city a month ago to register voters.

With the help volunteers from the IT companies, the NGO successfully completed the drive covering 40 IT companies in Pune. In all, 13,560 forms were submitted to the District Election Office.

Akhil Surange, a volunteer from Infosys said, “We have received a good response from the employees of various IT companies in the city. There were many amongst us who were willing to enroll for voting, but were unable to do so due to the office timings. Parivartan has helped us to register 2,300 voters from Infosys alone.”

The last date for voters registration for the 2014 general election is October 17. Parivartan appealed to all the corporates and housing societies to avail the registration kit online and enroll as many citizens as possible.

“A special kit has been prepared for the corporate and housing society voters’ registration drive which was used by the volunteers in the companies and societies. This kit can be downloaded from our website and can be used by the Human Resource (HR) and the chairman of various housing societies to do a voters registration drive in their companies and societies respectively,” said Deepak Tawri, Parivartan i-Vote Programme Coordinator.
