The hike in diesel price has brought more bad news for the common man as the prices of the vegetables entering your kitchen have jumped up the ladder by 20%.
While speaking to DNA, Vilas Bhujbal, a vegetable trader at Market Yard, blamed the diesel price hike for the rise in prices.
The only vegetables that have maintained their prices are cabbage, beetroot, bottle gourd and green chillies. Bhujbal said, “The Rs6.5 hike (in Pune) has not only impacted the consumers, but also the transporters, farmers, businessmen and everyone on the supply chain. Everyone has to pay 20% more. Thus, the consumer also has to bear the brunt and pay 20% extra for most vegetables and fruits.”
