The Faraskhana police have arrested two persons for allegedly killing a 45-year-old man early on Friday in Mangalwar Peth. The police claimed that the suspects had a criminal history and they were under the impression that the deceased was taking extra money from people for massage.
The deceased has been identified as Devji alias Deva Amrut Rathod, a resident of Burma slum area in Yerawada. Rathod used to work as a masseur.
A complaint in this regard was lodged by Deva’s relative Raju Rathod with Faraskhana police.
The arrested suspects include Raju Devendra and Tanaji Pratape. Both have been slapped with attempt to murder and murder charges in the past, police said.
Police inspector (crime) DB Bhosale of Faraskhana police station told dna, “Raju, Tanaji and his friend were sitting in a beer bar on Laxmi Road on Friday night. At 9.30 pm, they called up Rathod and invited him to come at the place. Later, Deva and his relative Raju came there. Te suspects took them to Mangalwar Peth and locked them up. They tied their hands and legs and brutally beat them up. Rathod died while Raju received serious injuries.”
After confirming that Rathod was dead, the suspects left. Raju approached the police. A police team arrested two suspects from Yerawada.
