Pune university signed MoU with a German company
Of the 40 shortlisted candidates, 20 have been selected for the newly introduced M.Tech (Aviation) course at Department of Technology (DoT) in University of Pune.
UoP has signed an MoU with Germany’s Fashschule Feer Luftahrgeng Fuhres (FFLF), an aviation company, to start this two-year course.
While speaking to media persons on Friday, the vice chancellor of UoP, Vasudeo Gade said, “The final 20 candidates have been selected after extensive interviews. There are 6 girls and 14 boys, all of them attended different engineering courses. The classes will start from September 23.”
As per the MoU, the candidates will have to undergo two-year extensive training and they will attend four semesters. “The students will be attending the training on the first semester. The rest of the three semesters will be conducted in Germany, where they will get the real experience of flying and other ground-related works,” said CTO FFL Stephan Volkland.
He further mentioned that the candidates will be given the necessary flying licence, which is valid in Europe and after coming back to India, they can obtain domestic licence from Director General of Civil Aviation (DGCA), the country’s aviation regulator. He said that their standards of issuing licence to the pilots are stringent than DGCA.
Gade said, “While selecting the final candidates, they have specifically looked for merit, English language proficiency, manners, personality and other related things.”
Gade said that more than 50 per cent of the candidates belong to rural background and they have decided to facilitate educational loan to these students. The course fees for two year is Rs 50 lakh. He, however, said that there are no plans about starting scholarship for this course.
Former alumni of Pune university, Naresh Khemani by whose efforts and mediation, the MoU was signed, said that after one year the students will be ready for the market and there will be plenty of opportunities, waiting for them.
