Three youths thrash delivery van driver in Pune

Three youths, riding triple seat on a motorbike, severely beat up the driver of a courier company delivery van with sticks and rods just because he had overtaken their bike. The incident took place near the servant quarters of MESG near Command Hospital in Wanawadi on Sunday night.

Wanawadi police have arrested one of the youths, Bablu Pardeshi (19) of AFMC service quarters in Wanawadi, on the complaint filed by Abdul Ibrahim Shaikh (45) of KT line in Wanawadi who is recuperating at Noble Hospital in Hadapsar.

The police have identified the absconding youths as Akshay Avchite (19) and Sunny Tak (20). A case under IPC has been filed against the trio.

Wanawadi police station sub-inspector Devidas Dhole, who is investigating the case, said, “Shaikh was driving the van home from work around 11 pm when the incident took place.”

According to Dhole, the three motorbike-borne youths intercepted the van alleging that it brushed their bike. They abused and assaulted him with bamboo sticks, iron rods and fled after the injured Shaikh fell unconscious. “We recorded Shaikh’s complaint after he regained consciousness around 11 am on Monday,” Dhole said.

Judicial magistrate (first class) remanded Bablu to one-day police custody on Tuesday.
