The third edition of Pune International Literary Festival (PILF) 2015 kick-started on Friday, with the social theme ‘Global Image of India’. With around 70–80 events scheduled through the festival, PILF this year will host at least three to four international guests as speakers also.

Talking with iamin, Bipinchandra Choughule from the organising committee of the festival said, “We have tried to cover a wide array of subjects through the discussions, plays and movies. From workshops for children to discussions of sex-related subjects, the festival will have everything,” said B.

PILF will host Sudha Murthy and Shashi Tharoor, among others in this year's edition. Hosted at the YASHADA campus in Baner, PILF is the brainchild of Dr Manjiri Prabhu, Pune-based author. “We started this festival in 2013, and are delighted at the overwhelming response that we have been receiving from authors, writers, literary personalities and the people of Pune,” said Dr Prabhu.

The festival will be held for three days up to Sunday, September 6.

Some of the main events this year:

  • 'Yours Truly' –Separate sessions with Shatrughan Sinha, Shashi Tharoor, Sudha Murthy, Ashok Chopra and others

  • Book Launches and Pre-Launch discussion of the book on Shammi Kapoor

  • Panel discussions with international and Indian authors like Piers Moore Ede (UK), Anand Neelakantan, Ashok Banker, Neil Hollander (France), Sunil Sethi, Satyajit Bhatkal, R Raj.

The entry to the three-day festival is free and open to all. Online registration is however mandatory on: www.pilf.in. On-the-spot registration too is possible but not recommended to avoid crowding at the entry point, say event managers at the festival.
