The Maharashtra State Board of Secondary and Higher Secondary Education will conduct examinations for Std X and XII at 1,015 centres in its nine divisions, including Pune division from Wednesday, an official release said.

Around 2.16 lakh candidates have registered for the Secondary School Certificate (Std X) examination and 1.81 lakh for the Higher Secondary Certificate (Std XII) examination, both to begin from Wednesday.

The SSC examination will last till October 9 and HSC examinations on October 17. State board students who failed in March 2013 and have taken admission for Std XI using ATKT facilities would appear for the forthcoming September/ October examination along with other failed students.

The board also clarified that differently challenged candidates could opt for a writer during the examination and the power to take a decision to this effect has been vested with the head of the examination centre.
