Software employee murdered, 2 held in Pune

The Airport police have arrested two persons for allegedly murdering a 25-year-old software company employee at Lohegaon on Saturday night. The police claim that the murder of Rakesh Dyneshwar Hargude was a fallout of an affair he had with a married woman.

Police suspect that the woman’s husband may have let out a contract on Hargude’s life.

The arrested people include Krishna Swami (24) and Ganesh Jagtap, both residents of Lohegaon.

Speaking to dna, senior police inspector Dilip Naukudkar of Airport police station said, “Hargude was working with a Yerawada-based software company. He had developed illicit relations with a married woman and often used to meet her. The woman’s husband had come to know about their relationship and told the suspects about it. Following which, Swami and his associate started stalking Hargude, demanding he end the relationship but the victim refused to oblige.”

On Saturday night, Swami and Jagtap spotted Hargude’s motorcycle outside the woman’s house. They called up the youth and asked him to meet them at a hotel.

“When Hargude reached the hotel, they had a heated exchange with him and took him to an isolated spot where Swami slashed his neck with a sharp weapon. Later, they dumped the body in a nearby water tank,” Nakudkar said.

On Sunday morning, some boys who were playing cricket in the area spotted blood, slipper and sunglasses lying at the murder spot. The children alerted their parents who in turn called up the police control room.

Later, Hargude’s father identified the victim’s sunglasses and slipper and informed the police that Swami and Jagtap were threatening his son.

“Working on this clue, we arrested Swami and his associate on Sunday night. The duo has been booked under relevant sections of IPC,” Nakudkar said, adding, the alertness of the locals helped the police in nabbing the suspects.
