Six mountaineers rescued from Pune's Jivdhan Fort
The six students had gone trekking and got stuck when it started raining.
Six amateur mountaineers, including four students of Fergusson College, were rescued on Sunday by the Junnar-based Sahyadri Mountaineering Institute at Jivdhan fort in Junnar tehsil, about 80 km away from city.
The rescued Fergusson College students were identified as Nachiket Guttikar, Harshawardhan Belsare, Satish Tupe and Ninad Datar.
According to police, the six students on Saturday evening had gone trekking at Jivdhan fort in Junnar tehsil. When they climbed some distance, it started raining. As a result, they could not find out the paths. Later, there was dense fog, so they decided to stay on the fort.
Pardeshi of Junnar police station said, "After getting the call, we and Sahyadri mountaineers team went to the fort and rescued the students at 3.30 pm."
Pardeshi said, "The students did not have an idea about the fort geography. They started climbing and got trapped in the middle of fort, due to heavy rainfall and dense fog."
The students are studying in the first year of bachelor in arts at Fergusson College.
