Sinhagad Rd jam: BJP seeks alternative ways

BJP MLA Madhuri Misal on Friday said that the party will launch an agitation if the roads suggested in the development plan are not completed. 

Misal staged a one-day hunger demonstration for pressing the demand of alternative roads for Sinhagad Road, which has witnessed increasing traffic jams and accidents in the recent past.  MLA Bhimrao Tapkir, city unit president Anil Shirole, local corporators Manjusha Nagpure, Srikant Jagtap and BJP Parvati assembly constituency unit president Vishwas Nanavare were present.

Misal pointed out that the Sinhagad Road and adjoining areas are expanding rapidly and the road is inadequate which leads to frequent traffic jams. She said that traffic jams and the ever-increasing population and accidents are not being dealt with seriously by the local body and the government. 

Misal has demanded alternative roads from PL Deshpande Garden to Vadgaon Budruk, Vadgaon Budruk Chowk to Tukainagar and Mahadevnagar and Rajiv Gandhi Colony to Neelayam Theater via Janata Vasahat. She has suggested constructing roads for joining Satara Road and Padmavati to Hingne Khurd and Rajaram Bridge to Bhide Bridge at Deccan Gymkhana. She also demanded a flyover joining Rajaram Bridge to Vadagaon Budruk.

Shirole said that another demand for alternative road for Karve Road was long pending.
