PUNE
Shiv Sena on Monday demanded filing of cases against board of directors of cooperatives, under Maharashtra Control of Organized Crimes (Prevention) Act (MCOCA), involved in irregularities leading to crisis in the cooperatives including banks and sugar factories.
Shiv Sena executive president Uddhav Thackeray would launch industries and cooperatives wing at a function in Pune on Tuesday.
The Shiv Sena industries and cooperatives wing president Hemant Dixit at a press conference said, “Whether it is sugar factories or district banks, people involved have defamed the cooperatives. And the government had to provide Rs. 650 to 700 crores to revive these banks.”
“It was hard earned money of the tax payers which was being spent to shield the irregularities in the field of cooperatives.” he adds.
Dixit further said, “Whether it is a cooperative bank or district bank, the board of directors sit together and take decisions to loot the bank which ultimately hamper the account holders and depositors. These people collectively dupe the common investor. Cases under MCOCA should be filed against them.”
