Pune: Residents of Spine road in Triveninagar, Talawade, are on a hunger strike demanding rehabilitation before their houses are demolished for the purpose of road widening. The PCMC has decided to widen a road to 65m to facilitate smooth flow of traffic.

They also demand that work should be currently kept on hold as the new academic year is starting. People,who have shops or other businesses in these areas say they should be given a proper compensation along with sufficient place to carry on their businesses.Residents have also demand basic facilities like drinking water and electricity.

Abhijeet Jadhav, 25, a resident of Triveninagar, said, “We do not have a problem with the development, but the authorities generally fail to rehabilitate people after demolishing their houses. Even after repeated discussions with the officials and the elected representatives from the PCMC, no decision has been taken.”
