His passing away was a huge blow to cinema lovers worldwide. To pay tribute to master filmmaker Rituparno Ghosh, Aashay Film Club in association with Film and Television Institute of India, will be organising a daylong festival of his films on Sunday, June 23.
The festival will feature three of Ghosh’s national award winning movies — Dahan, Chokher Bali and Raincoat.
Known for ushering in a new wave of cinema in the Bengali film industry as well as Bollywood, with path-breaking movies like ‘Unishe April’ and ‘Last Lear’, Rituparno has left a huge void in the film fraternity, which cannot be easily replaced. He not only glorified women in his movies, but also explored the sensitive topic of same sex relationships
