Only 120 students clear Advanced test; 150 last year
A drop in the number of candidates scoring in the Indian Institute of Technology Joint Entrance Exam Advanced test was clear. Only 120 students cleared the examination this year compared to 150 last year. The results of the exam were declared at 5 pm on Friday.
According to IITians Prashikshan Kendra head, Durgesh Mangeshkar, it is due to negative marking and the lengthy mathematics paper.
Deven Diwakar stood first in the city with all India ranking (AIR) of 137. Yash Bhalghat second at 155 and Kedar Joshi third at 159. Pratik Patil stood first in OBC category in the city at 932 ranking.
The total examination was of 360 marks and 126 was the cut-off for open category. Yash, who aspires to do research, said he was expecting a better ranking. The mathematics paper was lengthy but he was able to finish it.
The admission process will begin from June 24.
Coaching classes and their results
35+ students from IITians Prashikshan Kendra cleared the examination. Eight students from Bakliwal Tutorials qualified for the examination with Pranav Vaish scoring 246 All India Ranking (AIR). 50 students from Prime Academy cleared the examination with Kedar Joshi scoring 159 AIR.
