Pune: Pune Regional Transport Officer (RTO) and city traffic department officials will be holding joint meetings of citizens and auto rickshaw drivers in different parts of the city, in a bid to find a solution for the issue of errant auto rickshaw drivers refusing to ply passengers for shorter distances, or charging excess money. RTO officials claim that merely taking action against auto rickshaw drivers is not helping curb the problem. Pune RTO Jitendra Patil said,”Despite the fact that the auto fare was revised, the number of complaints against the auto rickshaw drivers have not come down. Therefore, we are now going to conduct a detail study; we will be meeting the residents of the area and try to find out a solution.” After this meeting, RTO can come up with shared or prepaid autos as alternate solutions for certain areas.
