Five new police stations have been sanctioned for the industrial area comprising Ranjangaon, Chakan and Kurkumbh. District collector Vikas Deshmukh said that a meeting of Jilha Udyog Mitra Samiti (committee of well-wishers of industry) was held on Friday.

MLA Girish Bapat, district industry centre general manager BK Surawase and officials representing nationalised banks attended the meet.

The collector said that the construction work of the police chowky at Ranjangaon is complete while land has been made available for police station at Chakan and Patas-Kurkumbh. Deshmukh said that the issue of traffic congestion at Chakan industrial area due to parking of trucks on highway was discussed at the meet.

Those attending the meet suggested that Maharashtra Industrial Development Corporation (MIDC) should be told to make available space for parking or develop a truck terminus. He also instructed officials to issue appeals to citizens or workers staying as tenants in MIDC area to furnish information in the prescribed form and submit it to the nearby police station and gram panchayat.
