In order to raise funds for the drought-affected people of the state, the Pune District Congress Committee organised an exhibition cum sale of paintings by renowned painter M Narayan.
In order to raise funds for the drought-affected people of the state, the Pune District Congress Committee organised an exhibition cum sale of paintings by renowned painter M Narayan. The exhibition was held by the Art 2 Day Gallery at Hyatt Regency on Saturday.
Abhay Chhajed, president of Pune City Congress, said, “It was Narayan’s decision to donate a part of the money to the drought-hit people.”
Around 45 paintings have been put on sale at the expo which will conclude on March 31.
Narayan, who hails from Karnataka, has spent 20 years in Maharashtra. “I have a very close association with the people from the rural areas. My paintings depict the simplicity of their lives,” said Narayan.
Chhajed added, “We have donated Rs2 lakh to the chief minister relief fund.
Besides, our party member Milind Kenche has donated land where crops will be produced and sent to the drought-affected people every 45
days.”
