The Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC) has completed all preparations for immersion of Ganesh idols during the 10-day Ganesh festival.
The civic administration has identified 17 ghats on river banks for immersion. According to PMC, all ghats and surrounding areas have been cleaned by the conservancy staff of the PMC and containers to collect nirmalya have been places at important places near the ghats.
Also, the area of the 17 ghats has been sprayed with insecticides and public toilets on wheels have been kept ready. Water tanks have also been kept at the ghats to help devotees to immerse Ganesh idols in them in order to keep the river clean. Firemen and lifeguards will keep a vigil near the ghat area.
The ghats have been identified by the PMC are Sangam Ghat, Vrudeshwar Ghat, Nene/Apte Ghat, Omkareshwar Ghat, Pulachi Wadi, Ashtabhuja Mandir (Narayan Peth), Bapu Ghat (Narayan Peth), Vitthal Mandir near Alka Talkies chowk.
