Hindustani classical vocalist Kishori Amonkar has been selected for the lifetime achievement award instituted by the state government in memory of Bharat Ratna Pandit Bhimsen Joshi.
Hindustani classical vocalist Kishori Amonkar has been selected for the lifetime achievement award instituted by the state government in memory of Bharat Ratna Pandit Bhimsen Joshi. She would be the first recipient of this award for the year 2012-13.The department of culture has instituted this award, which includes cash Rs5 lakh along with a citation and a memento. The selection committee, headed by minister for culture Sanjay Devtale and minister of state Fauzia Khan, included veteran artistes Prabhakar Karekar, Suresh Talwalkar, Ulhas Bapat, Shashi Vyas and Amarendra Dhaneshwar.
