“People in north east are safe in Maharashtra and we are constantly keeping check on the situation. People seem to be leaving because their families in the North East have some wrong ideas of the situation here. We can assure them of security”, Patil said.

He added that all the CDs and the information circulated on the internet are doctored. “The information and the visuals are wrongly posted and are being misused on the social networking sites.

This is Pakistan’s policy to create unrest in the country,” the home minister said.

He said that the use of CCTVs will first be considered in Pune and then in other cities.

When asked about the Maharashtra Navnirman Sena chief Raj Thackeray’s allegation that the police machinery has failed and their protest morcha, Patil said that such morchas are politically motivated.
