Now, education board will hire clerks through online test

The Maharashtra State Board of Secondary and Higher Secondary Education has decided to conduct an online written test for the recruitment of junior clerks for the first time.

State board chairman Sarjerao Jadhav told DNA, “We want to fill up 206 posts of junior clerks in our nine divisions. But instead of conducting interviews we have decided to make use of information technology and have prepared a questionnaire. The candidates will have to give a written examination and they will get copies of their answer sheets.”

The board has received 36,500 applications for 206 posts and the scrutiny of the application forms is going on. The date for the examination will be declared soon and the recruitment will be done by December, he said.

The test will be of 200 marks with four papers of 50 marks each. The students will have to answer it in 180 minutes as these will be objective-type questions, he added.

“Candidates will be given 10 days’ time to raise any objection regarding the model answers and the entire examination system. If there is a tie between two candidates, then we will apply the rule of higher qualification and birth date of the candidate and select one of them,” he said.

Transparent selection

The model answers of the online test will be displayed on the website on the same day of the examination, said Sarjerao Jadhav, chairman of Maharashtra State Board of Secondary and Higher Secondary Education.

“Those who score maximum will come to the board headquarters and will be given the option to select one of the nine divisions. She or he will be shown the divisions and will be given option to select one. There would be no interviews,” he said, adding it is completely a transparent process.
