Pune: With the live storage level at Pavana dam crossing the 65 per cent mark of its total capacity, the Pimpri Chinchwad residents are assured of getting daily one-time water supply for the next one year. Two weeks back the live water storage level was looming around 12 per cent danger mark, due to delayed monsoon. The municipal commissioner in an earlier press meet had stated that if the live storage level at Pavana dam reaches 65 per cent mark, it will be enough to supply daily one time water to the twin town for the next one year. The last three days incessant rains at the Pavana catchment area has pushed the storage level from 46.54 per cent by 6.00am on July 29 to 66.49 per cent by 6.00pm on July 31.Deputy Engineer, irrigation department, Pavana dam, Ramdas Jagtap informed that the dam catchment area has received 1271mm rainfall till 5pm, July 31, this season. He said that the live storage stands at 5.661 TMC, which is 66.49% of the total storage capacity of the dam. "As of now there is no water release from the dam to the Ravet bund and hydro or irrigation outlet. Flowing river water from free catchment areas is being used to supply water to PCMC area," he said.
