Environment plan for dist on the cards
The Maharashtra Pollution Control Board (MPCB) has been instructed to undertake inspection of all industrial units in the Maharashtra Industrial Development Corporation (MIDC) areas in Pune district to ensure effluent treatment.
This was announced here on Tuesday by district collector Vikas Deshmukh. He said the district environment committee decided to ensure release of effluents in the river only after proper treatment. Accordingly, the MPCB has been asked to visit the industrial units.
Deshmukh said the environmental plan for the district was discussed. The MPCB has been asked to collect primary information. Help from Yashwantrao Chavan Academy for Development Administration and University of Pune would be taken. A provision of Rs5 lakh would be made.
