A 32-year-old man, who was driving a car in an inebriated condition, knocked down a motorcyclist and left him injured. The incident took place at the foothills of Parvati hill at Mitramandal Chowk on Saturday evening. The arrested person was identified as Sunit Digamber Arjun.

According to the police, Sunit was going to Mitramandal Chowk from Neelayam Talkies Chowk on Saturday evening. When the car arrived near the chowk, Sunit knocked downed a motorcyclist from behind and dragged the two-wheeler for 100 metres. However, the victim had fallen away and was injured. Commuters and local residents caught Sunit and manhandled him. Deputy commissioner of police (zone II) Ramnath Pokale told dna, “The motorcyclist received minor injuries in the incident. We have arrested the suspect who was driving the car under the influence of alcohol.”
