Missing names: Collector will submit report to EC today

Pune: District collector Saurabh Rao will submit a detailed report on the missing names of hundreds of voters to the Election Commission on Friday. The collectorate received nearly 1,250 applications of voters whose names went missing from the voters' list. However, the district administration claimed that of these complaints, more than 100 names were actually there in the list.When Pune went to polls on April 17, the city had witnessed high drama after a huge mob had gathered outside the Council Hall, complaining that their names were missing from the list. Following the agitation, Rao had asked citizens to submit complaints to the administration.Speaking to media on Thursday, Rao said, "After receiving the applications, we started scrutiny of every complaint. We found that over 100 names mentioned in the applications, were actually there in the voters' list. There are some applications where citizens had filled up the forms to include their names in the list, but it was not included. The report was to be submitted today, but since there was polling going on at 116 places, the commission has asked to submit the report on Friday."Report on Ajit PawarThe district administration has submitted a report on a complaint against deputy chief minister Ajit Pawar to the Election Commission through the chief electoral officer. However, Rao refused to divulge the details of the report.
