Minor fire at Ganpati mandal on Laxmi Rd

A minor fire was reported at Laxmi Road’s Tarun Mitra Mandal on Thursday afternoon. The fire broke out due to a short circuit, which led to the mandal’s board and decorative curtains getting burnt. No casualties were reported, the fire brigade officials said.

According to the fire brigade officials, the mandal is located at Shagun Chowk on Laxmi Road, which was jammed with traffic and constant crowds visiting the Dagdusheth Halwai Ganpati.

Fireman Anil Karade attached to Kasba fire station said it took about 10 minutes to clear the crowd, but they reached in time.
The fire caused a total loss of Rs10,000-15,000. “The place is near Dagdusheth temple, which is why we faced a little problem in handling the crowd,” Karade said.

A local resident said that the volunteers at the mandal had doused the fire even before the fire brigade arrived.
