5 dy collectors assigned the work
District administration has deployed more manpower and has delegated powers to five deputy collectors to issue non-creamy layer certificates to students, so that they don’t lose a year for the want of certificate.
A delegation of parents and students met district collector Vikas Deshmukh on Tuesday evening and requested him to help the students to get non-creamy layer certificate, as early as possible. The students and parents pointed out that some of them were given the date of June 16 for issuing certificate but they wanted it before June 14, which is the deadline for engineering admissions.
Deshmukh tried to talk to officials in Mantralaya and also to the director of technical education over the phone. While speaking to media, Deshmukh informed that he has requested the Directorate of Technical Education(DTE) to extend the date for filing the applications. He informed that there were problems for the students to get non-creamy layer certificate for number of reasons.
He said, “For this certificate there is need for TDS Certificate of Income Tax and since TDS certificate is generally provided by the end of May or June first week, students face the problem.” He informed that after receiving the TDS certificate from the employer of the parent, the district administration requires at least a week to process the documents and then give the non-creamy layer certificate.
Deshmukh said that since the Government so far has not extended the deadline. Five deputy collectors have been assigned with authority to sign the non-creamy layer certificates. Deshmukh said that the administration would not mind sitting even post-midnight to provide certificates.
