Man murdered in Bavdhan

A 25-year-old man, Lakhan Kundo Tirki, was murdered by four persons on charges of stealing pigs on Wednesday night. The incident took place on an open ground amidst the bushes at Bavdhan.

According to the police, Tirki is a resident of Bavdhan Budruk and used to work at a chicken shop and had gone to dump chicken waste in the open space as part of his routine work.

On seeing a pig, Tirki ran behind the animal to catch it, but was accosted by three persons who picked up a quarrel with him. The suspects accused Tirki of stealing their pigs and assaulted him with sticks and sharp weapons. Tirki died due to heavy blood loss and serious neck and head injuries, the police said.

Tirki’s friend Kisan Maryun Khalko (23), a resident of Bavdhan, lodged a complaint with the Hinjewadi police naming the suspects.

The police arrested two persons identified as Shyam Laxman Pawar (55) and Ram Shyam Pawar (23), both residents of Bavdhan on charges of murder. Two others have been booked but are at large, the police said. Assistant police inspector SR Thenge of Hinjewadi police station said the suspects killed Tirki over a petty reason by assaulting him with sticks, swords and choppers.

“Tirki was found stealing pigs owned by one of the suspects. The assailants had been trailing him for long on suspicion. On Wednesday, they were convinced that it was Tirki who stealing their pigs and in a fit of rage killed him. We are on the lookout of their two accomplices for their role in the murder,” he said.
