The police claimed that the murder was a fallout of some money related dispute. Police have recovered a vegetable knife which was used by the suspect to murder the deceased.

The deceased has been identified as Arvind Kushwaha, a resident of Dhankude Vasti in Baner. He hailed from Madhya Pradesh.

Senior police inspector Ajay Kadam of Chatuhshrungi police station said, “We received the information that a decapitated body of a man was lying near Balewadi village. We identified the person with the help of the PAN card and the mobile phone.”

Kushwaha’s nephew Nilesh (17) has lodged a complaint in this regard. He has accused Raibahadur, a resident of Mangalwar Peth, of the murder. Both Kushwaha and Raibahadur hailed from Madhya Pradesh and were staying in Pune for the past one year, police said.

The police added that Kushwaha had given Rs12,000 to Raibahadur and the latter was not returning it to him. On Saturday morning, Raibahadur came to Kushwaha’s house and took him along with him. However, Kushwaha did not return home and that panicked his wife.

As per the complaint, Nilesh said that he had called up Raibahadur who claimed that he had no idea about Kushwaha. “Nilesh even went to Raibahadur’s house in Mangalwar Peth, but it was locked. Meanwhile, we recovered the body of Kushwaha from the field,” said Kadam.
